MID CENTURY MODERN INSPIRATION

Here's a great write up of a restoration of a Rudolph Shindler home in L.A. Its amazing how timeless this style of architecture is, at least to me. I was chatting with a friend the other night- during one of the numerous periods of boredom that is the Super (stupor) Bowl, about why I seem to favor that style of design. I think it goes back to growing up in the only mid century modern home in a sea of split level ranch homes in Marin County. The neighbors hated the place because it was so different- but I loved it, and it helped inform my archtiectural taste to this day. Coupled with the fact that one of my best friends growing up lived in an Eichler home nearby. That seemed to leave a mark on him, too- and currently he is lucky enough to own a restored Frank Lloyd Wright home in Iowa...
